Dr. Josef Ackermann
Dr. Josef Ackermann

Josef Ackermann, born in 1948, is one of the best-known and most respected bankers of his time. He holds a doctorate in economics and social sciences from the University of St. Gallen. Josef Ackermann began his career in 1977 at Schweizerische Kreditanstalt, now Credit Suisse. In 1990, he was appointed to the Executive Board of SKA and three years later became its Chairman. In 1996, Josef Ackermann joined the Executive Board of Deutsche Bank AG, where he became responsible for the Investment Banking division. From 2002 to 2012, he served as Chairman of the Group Executive Board of the bank for a full decade. During this time, he led the bank into the top group of global investment banks and steered it safely through the major financial crisis. In 2009, he was voted “European Banker of the Year”. As President of the Institute of International Finance, a global banking and insurance association, Josef Ackermann worked intensively on overcoming this crisis and the subsequent European sovereign debt crisis. In addition to his work as a banker, Josef Ackermann held numerous other mandates. He was honored with awards worldwide for his contribution. Today, he holds various international advisory board mandates.

Philippe Aerni has over 24 years of underwriting experience in Financial Lines and has been Head Specialties, Switzerland at Zurich Insurance since 2021. He is responsible for all Financial Lines segments, including Cyber Insurance, as well as the Credit & Surety Insurance business. Prior to joining Zurich Insurance, Philippe Aerni worked 18 years at Swiss Re in various underwriting leadership roles, among other roles as Global Head Casualty & Financial Lines at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, with responsibility for all Liability and Financial Lines segments (including Cyber, Medical Malpractice, Construction Liability, Energy Liability, Product Recall and Accident & Health). He has also held positions at Crédit Suisse, Winterthur Insurance and XL Insurance. Philippe studied Law at the University of Bern.

Michael Daum is Global Head of Cyber Claims at Allianz Commercial and responsible for the strategic direction and organization of Cyber Claims handling worldwide and across all corporate client segments, both at AGCS and at the local Allianz entities. He has more than 15 years of professional experience and has held senior positions at Allianz Germany, Allianz Suisse and AGCS. Since 2018, he has focused exclusively on the insurance of cyber risks and has acquired high expertise in the areas of Risk assessment, Underwriting and Claims.

Christoph K. Graber is an attorney-at law and a partner at the Zurich commercial law firm Prager Dreifuss Ltd. where he heads the firm’s insurance and reinsurance department. He is the author of numerous publications on insurance and reinsurance law and a past chair of the Insurance Committee of the International Bar Association. He advises Swiss and foreign insurers and reinsurers in contentious and non-contentious matters and represents his clients in court and in arbitration proceedings. His longstanding experience includes in particular the areas of banking and finance (professional indemnity and fidelity bonds), directors’ and officers’ liability, product liability and commercial general liability.

His expertise, strategic mindset and more than 20 years of experience in cyber security, including in the financial and telecommunications industries, have made him a sought-after expert in the industry. With a deep understanding of complex cyber threats, he shares his knowledge through speaking engagements and training to help organizations effectively secure their digital assets.

Head of Financial Lines, D/A/CH region, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance

Dr. Carsten Keune joined Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) in 2020 and is currently holding the position of Head of Financial Lines for the D/A/CH region. Carsten is based in Cologne. Prior to this role he held various senior leadership positions within the Munich Re Group, XL and XL Catlin and Allianz since initially joining the insurance industry as a D&O Claims manager at Gerling Insurance in 1997. Between 2005 and 2013 Carsten was based in Paris, Singapore and London expanding his international expertise. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Bonn.

Stephanie Loraff started her career more than 30 years ago in reinsurance as Non-Life Treaty Underwriter in Cologne and Dublin. She joined AXA XL 2012 as Financial Lines Senior Underwriter and specialized in Cyber since 2016. On October 1, 2023, Stephanie has been appointed Underwriting Manager Cyber for Germany/Austria/CSEE. She graduated in Finance and Investment Economy in VWA in Frankfurt am Main.

Gunnar Porada is the owner of innoSec GmbH (Weggis) and has been active in the security industry since the 1990s. Initially as an active hacker in his youth, later as a consultant and entrepreneur, he still advises companies, authorities and governments on the subject of cyber security. He has made a name for himself with many live hacking presentations at trade fairs and corporate events worldwide and is often quoted internationally by the press as an expert in television reports and print and online media. Porada was also co-director of the Competence Center Cyber-Security at the University of Liechtenstein and has lectured at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) for many years.

Jürgen Reinhart studied mathematics and made his PhD in aerospace engineering. As Chief Underwriter Cyber he is driving the cyber business at Munich Re globally. He manages a team of experts within the Corporate Underwriting division of Munich Re Group. His responsibilities include the definition and implementation of the global Munich Re cyber strategy as well as setting the underwriting standards for the group. He carries the risk management function for cyber and is responsible for the service provider network and partnerships with respect to cyber business. He is also Deputy Chief Underwriter for the Munich Re Group.

Philipp Scheuba is a lawyer and partner at BLS Attorneys at Law in Vienna. He has been dealing with major claims in the industrial, construction, energy, IT and food sectors for 20 years and is a renowned insurance law expert in Austria. Numerous national and international insurers are among his clients. He specializes in complex mandates from all financial lines areas and questions of D&O liability. His expertise covers particularly D&O insurance, fidelity insurance, cyber insurance and also insurance sales issues, regulatory issues and increasingly insurtechs. Philipp Scheuba gives lectures at the Austrian Insurance Association VVO, at the Academy of the Technical Inspection Association TÜV, at the Academy of the Credit Protection Association KSV 1870 and at the University of Salzburg.

Harald Schuster is CEO of Mercedes-Benz Reinsurance Luxembourg and Head of Corporate Insurance at the Mercedes-Benz Group. Previously, he was CRO in the Captive, CEO of Daimler Rebrokers and Head of Insurance for the automotive retail business in the German market. In his numerous functions, he was responsible for the expansion of the insurance business within the Group and is currently also in charge of the insurance matters of Daimler Truck Holding AG, which has been independent since the spin-off. Before joining Mercedes-Benz, he started his professional career at Allianz Versicherung AG. He also holds a degree in Insurance Management from the University of St. Gallen (HSG). In total, Harald Schuster has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Oliver Sieg is partner at Noerr, co-head of the litigation department and head of the liability and insurance disputes practice group. Oliver Sieg’s practice focuses on providing strategic advice to clients on contentious issues, conducting negotiations and, as a last resort, litigating before courts, in particular in complex disputes, including cross-border disputes. He is experienced in conducting arbitration proceedings, primarily under DIS or ICC rules as well as ad hoc, also as an arbitrator. His areas of expertise include management liability, professional liability and banking liability as well as insurance and reinsurance law. Oliver Sieg studied law in Bonn, Cologne, Cambridge (UK), Speyer and Münster, is admitted to the Düsseldorf Bar and has been with Noerr since 2002.

Formerly, she held senior positions in leading multinationals in Switzerland and Germany, while having started her career in consulting at EY and Arthur Andersen. Holding Master Degrees in Finance, Economics and Tax Law, Kristin is also a certified nutritionist. Being an active member of various associations such as Swiss AmCham, Swiss Holdings or the Boardroom, she is passionate about driving excellence and fostering strategic partnerships with a diverse skill set.

Manuel Suter is Deputy Director of the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS), where he is responsible for political and strategic projects. He led the project for the development of the National Cyber Strategy and drafted it. Manuel Suter has worked for the BACS since 2015. He studied political science and wrote a dissertation at ETH Zurich on the topic of cooperation between public and private stakeholders in cyber security.

Regula Elsener started her journalistic career at the age of 15 as a freelancer for various newspapers and radio stations in Eastern Switzerland. At the age of 21 she made the leap to Swiss television, where she worked as an editor and presenter for nine years (including “TAF”, “Zirkusfestival Monte Carlo”, “Spätausgabe Tagesschau”, “Millionengala”). In 2005 she founded her own company “Relations GmbH – die Medienmacher” and has since worked as a freelance journalist, moderator and speaker.

Prior to this, the lawyer and economist was Head Financial Lines at Zurich Insurance Company, responsible for the financial lines business in Switzerland. Prior to that, he was responsible at AIG Switzerland & Austria for industrial customers in the FL sector and has many years of consulting experience.

Together with Markus Haefeli, Peter Schroeder is a founding partner of Haefeli & Schroeder Financial Lines AG. He previously headed the Financial Institutions team within the Financial Lines department at Zurich Insurance Company. Prior to that in his career of more than 22 years, Peter Schroeder held various management positions in the Financial Lines area, with technical and personnel responsibility for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He worked for AIG, Allianz, Liberty and Chubb, among others, occasionally in an international environment and with global underwriting responsibility.
